To maximise energy efficiency, it is suggested that you set your air-con to 25 degrees cooling in Summer and 20 degrees heating in Winter. It is, however, entirely up to your comfort but as a general rule of thumb your air-con shouldn’t be set to more than 8 degrees below the outside temperature so as to not put extra strain on your system. To maximise efficiency it’s important to ensure your air-con is cleaned regularly. This means taking the filters out and rinsing them down with the hose or dusting them off with a broom every 3 months. It is also recommended you get your unit professionally cleaned once a year. Yes – If you have the MyAir smart control system you are able to individually set each room’s temperature that has a sensor in it.
No – If you have a standard control system. You will only have one set point for the whole house.
-
Yes – Split systems have the ability to set a weekly timer for the air con unit to turn on.
If you have a Ducted MyAir Smart system, then you have the ability to set “scenes”! For example, setting the air-con to turn on at 5am in particular rooms/whole house and turn off at 7am – this is a great way to warm up the house before you have to get up in those cold winter mornings. Another example would be to set the unit to turn on mid arvo in Summer to cool the house down for the evening return (this would also be great for energy saving as you can cool the house gradually over time rather than blast the cool air).

It depends how old the air-con is, generally they’re not worth repairing if they are 10 years or older as they are likely to have more issues in the near future. However, we are happy to give a free unit inspection to discuss your options further.
